Oh, the Breakfasts!

With a wide variety of breakfast dishes to choose from there will be something to suit everyone. Orange juice, a choice of cereals, a selection of seasonal fruit and a variety of yoghurts are on the table, so just help yourself. Then, try our traditional English Breakfast with excellent sausages, bacon, and eggs sourced from local farmer, Brian Hodgson, at Aldin Grange, as well as fresh local mushrooms, and tomatoes (our own, when in season) . Baked beans, delicious home-baked Irish potato bread, black pudding and/or beans (Heinz, of course) are also available. Or, for a change, try some scrambled eggs with a little Swallow Fish-sourced smoked salmon, kippers, or poached eggs on toast, a bacon or sausage sandwich, and/or a bowl of piping hot porridge.

Non-meat-eaters may enjoy our Vegetarian English Breakfast with mushrooms, tomatoes, Linda McCartney sausage, egg, baked beans and potato bread.

Alternatively, a light, Continental option is available, with fresh-baked croissants and pain au chocolat.  All our jams are home made - often from our own fruit trees.

We boast an excellent range of cafetière coffees, both full-strength and decaffeinated.  We even have a nice coffee machine, so cappuccino, espresso, latte, macchiato - the choice is yours.

For tea lovers, there's a choice between Earl Grey, and Rington's Breakfast tea - or any number of tisanes, from green tea, Peppermint, Camomile and others.

And, you MUST try our home-made bread, converted by alchemy into superb toast, and spread with our home-made preserves

Special Dietary Requirements

Please note that we are happy to cater for most special requirements, given a bit of notice! We keep vegetarian sausages and gluten-free cereal. We will get in most other things on request, including goats, soya or lactose-free milk & yoghurts. We’re used to providing gluten-free and other “free from” products as desired. Just let us know of your needs, ideally when you book. We cannot, however, guarantee complete freedom from nuts – they are around even if not used.

The Dining room, laid for breakfast. VERY Victorian!

Breakfast is normally served from 7:30-9:30 am, or at other times on request.  You can order the night before, in which case it will be ready for you when you come down, or just come down and order on the morning.  As all breakfasts are cooked fresh to order, this can take up to 20 minutes - you can't hurry a good sausage!  And, there are some things you HAVE to order the night before - to placate the Great God Freezer!

note: we do our best to use local, organic produce, but they are, as they have to be, subject to availability.  We will, however, ALWAYS use top quality  substitutes

If you'd like more details on the provenance of each breakfast item, there is the Dowfold House Breakfast Booklet.  Just click to view.
